Coming Coup Against Trump posted by Finian Cunningham via jon, 2018-07-17 20:51:06 The American backlash against President Trump over his summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been as ferocious as it was predictable. (full story) prose / international
Yes, Junior, We Do Live in a Post-Modern World posted by nano, 2018-07-17 07:51:24 For the uninitiated post-modernism is a no truth-reality world; truth/reality becomes what you make it. This approach of course empowers everyone though those that have access to media or prominence are most able to wield this chaotic, amorphous but ‘real’ disruptive power. And indeed, power it is, but not the formalised, hierarchical power structures that history has known prior to post-modernism. The reason being that post-modernism attacks and subverts the power dynamic between sign, symbol and meaning, for instance a picture, or any representation of a pipe (object) is clearly not a/the pipe/object! Why Evidence Will Probably Never Be Produced in the Indictments of ‘Russian Agents’ posted by Joe Lauria via jane, 2018-07-16 20:41:20 The indictment of 12 Russian ‘agents,’ which included no collusion with Trump’s team, is essentially a political and not legal document because it is almost certain the U.S. government will never have to present any evidence in court. Successive Oz Government Failures to Meet their Responsibility to Citizens in Trouble posted by darcy, 2018-07-16 00:00:32 Sometimes I am ashamed to state I’m an Aussie as it usually results in all manner of criticisms regarding our obsequious governments that are supplied with knee-pads for all visits to Washington. ALL our foreign ministers, regardless of political stripe parrot American policies, disregarding international and local law while they do so, they are ALL slavish to the nauseating extreme to America -- a ‘fine’ state of affairs for a sovereign State -- absolutely DISGRACEFUL. Words fail to adequately describe the disgusting cowardice, servility, and at times, treasonous behaviour our politicians display openly. Well, like our American cousins, most Aussies are in denial when they witness these pathetic displays of servility and blind obedience to a criminal state that is responsible for more innocent civilian deaths, maiming, and massive social displacements since the turn of the century, than all other nations put together, FACT, verify for yourselves. Mueller Releases a Skripal Orchestrated Farce posted by gus, 2018-07-15 00:40:43 The latest ‘news’ -- lol -- on idiotic president Trump and his alleged relationship with Russians has been released by Mueller’s deputy AG, now note the presentation: “Crucial Details“, “Major Development”, “Unveiled” and the list goes on, and that from only one ‘news’ source. So why the big sell if it’s all true? Indeed, the only thing missing is a bottle of nerve agent that any high school chemistry student could make from formulas in a published book freely available in the public domain. The Lamentable Notion that Trump is Responsible posted by gary, 2018-07-14 02:14:05 Two days ago I browsed to Alternet.org, a once good alternative news source, but was shocked to see that over 95% of content was related directly and indirectly to buffoon Trump, an obviously captured, puppet president doing the bidding of the global elite, a milieu of bankers and mega-corporations that have total control of the USA and many other Western and Eastern nations. For Theresa May The ‘Special Relationship’ Means Craven Compliance posted by Gary Younge via jon, 2018-07-12 23:50:03 A US president with no moral authority flies in to meet a British prime minister with no authority whatsoever. Each seeking legitimacy in the presence of the other, they hail their 'special' relationship like two bald men might brandish a comb. Isolated in their trajectories, belligerent in their rhetoric, incoherent in their policies, they have alienated their allies in pursuit of a brazen nationalism that bodes ill for them and everybody else. "Shakedown" of NATO by America posted by Finian Cunningham via jenny, 2018-07-12 22:33:30 The fact is that NATO is an extension of the US military as was evidenced by its criminal bombing of Libya, 26,000 bombing sorties were conducted, in a 'no-fly' zone, by NATO to comply with Washington's interests and pursuits, which effort eventually led to the horrific murder of Gaddafi, and that AFTER he surrendered his WMD under NATO supervision. So there it is, once a nation is rendered defenceless the US/NATO strikes and murders its leader to then thieve its precious resources. (full story) prose / international
The Serene Gaze of the Enlightened posted by cas, 2018-07-12 03:30:16 Have you ever wondered why the Buddha and other enlightened beings are depicted with a serene facial expression and a faint blissful smile that shames the Mona Lisa? In some Tibetan tankas (religious paintings) Gods and beings are locked in sexual embrace yet the facial expression depicts other-worldliness and detached bliss with slightly upturned eyes (inward looking), and again that tell-tale faint smile, and this while locked in what would otherwise be sensual embrace. Believe it or not, Trump just told the truth posted by Dana Milbank via joyce, 2018-07-11 00:39:23 I used to say that if you wanted to know whether President Trump was telling the truth, flip a coin. But it turns out I overstated the odds of Trumpian truthfulness. (full story) prose / international

Disaster for Internet Freedom posted by Jake Johnson via jon, 2018-07-10 22:30:54 Trump's SCOTUS pick Brett Kavanaugh is "an enemy of net neutrality" and a "notorious" defender of mass government spying. (full story) prose / international
Non-Stop Propaganda is Real Fake News posted by shane, 2018-07-09 23:44:29 Indeed, and who or what disseminates non-stop propaganda? Yes, the elite owned mass media by a country mile; remember the blatant LIES of the Iraq war? Non-existent WMD, fake connection to 9/11 and Iraqis welcoming invading Americans with "bouquets of flowers," etc. In fact the lies, distortions, misinformation that spews daily from the mass media dwarfs all other sources put together. However, what do we witness today? Big IT, Twitter in this instance, suspending over 70 million accounts in 2 months. Now that figure is staggering for a number of reasons, first the labour involved in the cancellation process itself, if it is done diligently, and second, the process itself; if the task has been performed by algorithms, then it’s a fraud as clearly a thinking sentient being is required to judge whether content is fake or not, mathematics cannot and does not think nor is it able to JUDGE! America’s Chronic Addictions - Opiates, Donald Trump and War posted by Tom Engelhardt via stacey, 2018-07-09 22:40:55 When you think of addiction in America today, one thing comes to mind: the opioid epidemic. And it should. It’s serious. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, almost 64,000 Americans died of opiate overdoses in 2016 (more than died in the Vietnam War), an average of 175 people a day. In that year, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimated that 11.5 million Americans “misused” pain medication. (Note that such figures are still on the rise.)
