Lost Directions posted by danny, 2018-07-24 21:53:20 It amuses me no end how modern man attempts to interpret ancient cave and rock ‘paintings’ with little or no appreciation of the cultural mindsets that created them. Some Australian rock paintings are tens of thousands of years old. They portray the hunt, tribal totems and the first intrusion of Europeans in the north, it should be remembered that the Dutch colonised Indonesia hundreds of years before Cook ‘discovered’ Australia, conveniently following maps and stories of Portuguese and Dutch sailors, in other words Cook discovered what was already discovered, however, British jails were overflowing and the usual dumping ground, America, was undergoing political unrest/rebellion, so newly colonised Australia became the next dumping ground for unwanted convicts, which were mercilessly put to slave labour to build a British outpost in the South Pacific from scratch. False Notions of Being posted by lex, 2018-07-24 07:48:58 I will not quote Shakespeare so relax, if you know how.
I am -- as is obvious as I am producing this piece, however, I could also prove I exist by producing my Birth Certificate, a piece of bloody paper in which the State places more value/recognition than the living person. In fact if I was unable to produce a certificate of my existence the State would either not recognise me or consider me a criminal or undocumented alien though clearly, I am of this world. The Real Reason the US Must [But Won't] Talk to Russia posted by Pepe Escobar via don, 2018-07-23 20:31:05 Future historians may well identify Russian President Vladimir Putin’s landmark March 1 speech as the ultimate game-changer in the 21st-century New Great Game in Eurasia. The reason is minutely detailed in Losing Military Supremacy: The Myopia of American Strategic Planning, a new book by Russian military/naval analyst Andrei Martyanov. "Too Dumb to Know You're Dumb" -- The Dunning-Kruger Effect posted by Bobby Azarian via suzie, 2018-07-23 06:49:54 In the past, some prominent psychologists have explained President Donald Trump’s unwavering support by alluding to a well-established psychological phenomenon known as the “Dunning-Kruger effect.” The effect is a type of cognitive bias, where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they don’t have enough knowledge to know they don’t have enough knowledge. Or, stated more harshly, they are “too dumb to know they are dumb.” This simple but loopy concept has been demonstrated dozens of times in well-controlled psychology studies and in a variety of contexts. However, until now, the effect had not been studied in one of the most obvious and important realms—political knowledge. (full story) prose / international
'Never, ever threaten the United States again': Trump lashes Iran posted by Carol Morello via gus, 2018-07-23 00:27:43 Trump is in his element when he involves himself in a shit fight, this time with Iran, which nation is threatened by various forms of US led economic warfare as I write. Of course Iran's president issued a defensive warning, see previous post, which allowed Trump to do what he does best, engage in hot headed, idiotic verbal attacks, remember all the crap about North Korea and its leader? And what came of that "fire and fury", sweet fuck all! However, that is not the point the real story is about media DISTRACTION. Media consultants know that when in a jam, 'the Putin summit,' pull a fake crisis out of the bag of tricks and fascinate simple minds, after all Trump is the simple minded president for a simple minded rustic nation. So will the US population fall for it again and again? Of course they will, they live in a media-induced American dreamworld. (full story) prose / international
Iran Warns Trump, "Mother of all Wars" posted by staff report via cyd, 2018-07-22 23:35:39 Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump about pursuing hostile policies against Tehran, saying "America should know ... war with Iran is the mother of all wars," but he did not rule out peace between the two countries, either. Neocons Bolton and Pompeo Are Leading Push for Regime Change in Iran posted by Jake Johnson via gayle, 2018-07-22 22:56:09 "Although the Trump administration claims it only seeks 'behavior change' in Iran, its pressure campaign clearly aims at regime change." (full story) prose / international
When the US Invaded Russia (1918) posted by Jeff Klein via stacey, 2018-07-22 04:03:25 Amid the bi-partisan mania over the Trump-Putin Summit in Helsinki, fevered, anti-Russian rhetoric in the United States makes conceivable what until recently seemed inconceivable: that dangerous tensions between Russia and the U.S. could lead to military conflict. It has happened before. (full story) prose / international
The Subversion of Reality by the Mass Media posted by rupert, 2018-07-22 01:25:51 Today media fiction is paramount, reality has not taken a backseat it has been effectively all but eliminated. A few ignored voices continue to state the obvious, like where is the evidence for all these repetitive media claims, none has ever been produced nor could it be for the obvious simple reason that none exists? If they had it they would produce it to emphasise and convince the masses their stories are accurate! It’s ALL media lies/fiction, ‘Russiagate’ being the foremost at this time. Former CIA Officer: Clinton "Involved In Biggest Treason In [American] History" posted by Greg Hunter via jenny, 2018-07-21 09:05:09 Former CIA Officer and whistleblower Kevin Shipp says what Hillary Clinton did with her charity and Uranium One while she was Secretary of State was a crime for the history books. Shipp explains, “Hillary Clinton used this to launder money in foreign banks so it wasn’t subject to U.S. laws, congressional subpoenas or FOIA demands for the evidence. This was done to launder this money globally into the Clinton Foundation so the U.S. government could not examine it at all.” (full story) prose / international
Assange Likely to be Handed over to UK Authorities for Breaching Bail posted by denice, 2018-07-20 23:25:29 It is clear that the new leader of Ecuador is a puppet of the US, and I'm not about to give him any latitude though he faces financial blackmail and other political pressures, as these US tactics are well known and routine. So the full responsibility rests on Lenin Moreno's shoulders for not respecting asylum conventions and human rights, what a dog! (full story) prose / international
The Sexual Passion of Winston Smith (1984) posted by Edward Curtin via janice, 2018-07-20 07:46:46 There is a vast literature analyzing the political prophecy of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. Big Brother, double-speak, telescreens, crimestop, etc. – all applied to our current political situation. The language has become part of our popular lexicon, and as such, has become clichéd through overuse. Blithe, habitual use of language robs it of its power to crack open the safe that hides the realities of life. (full story) prose / international
Trump's HUGE Backflip on Russia Stance posted by Finian Cunningham via steve, 2018-07-19 22:55:52 It seems that Trump's political naivety has been cured; indeed, Trump has learned that the president of the USA is NOT the democratically elected boss; that US presidents lead nothing unless it conforms to the dictates and policies of the ruling, deep state elites. Nevertheless, and notwithstanding that he deplores the constraints imposed by the office he holds, I would imagine Trump cares less. He wants out but with some dignity, which currently seems an impossibility. And so, if Trump's unorthodox creativity is unable to remedy the situation, America would face a completely dog-whipped compliant puppet president -- which focus I would shift from the person to the OBVIOUS FAKE DEMOCRACY that America is forced to endure from unrepresentative and unelected oligarchs and plutocrats.
Whatever you may think, it is NOW abundantly CLEAR that powers other than democratic representation rule the USA. Good luck, dreamboats! (full story) prose / international
'Russia Did It': A HUGE CIA Concocted Media Hoax posted by Stephen Lendman via jason, 2018-07-18 20:32:12 If the CIA had its way Russia would be responsible for ingrown toenails. But to take a propaganda line from Hitler himself, 'if you're going to tell a lie tell the biggest lie you can think of and repeat it endlessly until it becomes the "truth".' Well, we needn't look too far to see who today's fascist BIG LIARS are.
Not at any time have the media, the CIA and other accusers produced any credible evidence of their claims and accusations -- that is cold hard FACT. The entire Russiagate hoax rides only on a raft of mass media LIES. Now ask yourselves, who owns the mass media and who does the CIA really work for? Answer: the DEEP STATE, otherwise known as the ruling elites. Nonetheless, if WE always INSIST on REAL incontrovertible EVIDENCE, the entire propaganda machine/exercise would FALL in a heap.
