US Threats of War for Oil against Venezuela
Eric London via stella, Tuesday, Feb 5 2019, 6:57pm
John Bolton, who helped author the playbook that was used to launch the 2003 invasion of Iraq, issued a blunt threat Friday that the US would kill or jail and torture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro if he did not resign. Comparing Maduro to Nicolae Ceaușescu and Benito Mussolini—both of whom were killed—Bolton told right-wing radio host Hugh Hewitt: “The sooner he takes advantage of that [i.e., resignation], the sooner he’s likely to have a nice quiet retirement on a pretty beach rather than being in some other beach area like Guantanamo.” (story and 1 image)

Goodbye to the Dollar
Chris Hedges via james, Monday, Feb 4 2019, 6:42pm
The inept and corrupt presidency of Donald Trump has unwittingly triggered the fatal blow to the American empire—the abandonment of the dollar as the world’s principal reserve currency. Nations around the globe, especially in Europe, have lost confidence in the United States to act rationally, much less lead, in issues of international finance, trade, diplomacy and war. These nations are quietly dismantling the seven-decade-old alliance with the United States and building alternative systems of bilateral trade. (story and 1 image)

The Right Stuff and the Lack Thereof
luke, Sunday, Feb 3 2019, 8:19pm
The right stuff, how else did a bunch of rag-tag Taliban fighters in Afghanistan defeat the world’s most powerful military nation? They were/are outgunned, facing modern technological warfare against drones, missiles, modern fighter jets, bunker bombs etc, YET they prevailed and clearly it wasn’t the result of watching propaganda and fictions on TV. Afghanistan has once again proven it is the graveyard of empires. (story and 2 images)

The LAW is a BAD Joke, not an Ass
jed, Saturday, Feb 2 2019, 11:35pm
We live in an era of lawlessness, we need only consider that not one American has ever been charged before the ICC for war and other crimes against HUMANITY. Henry Kissinger was proud of the fact that he implemented indiscriminate “carpet bombing” during the Indo-Chinese war -- millions of innocent peasants were killed as a result. America is proud that it illegally attacked and invaded Iraq based on a raft of exposed LIES, though millions of innocent civilians were killed in the grab for Iraq’s oil and prior to that illegal invasion millions were killed by US sanctions on Iraq which forbade the import of medical supplies which resulted in over 500,000 child deaths, which the then Sec. of State, when questioned in the media, considered those deaths, “worth it.” So what is an American politician's life worth today, Madam Albright?

Sanctions of Mass Destruction: America’s [Failing] War on Venezuela
Garikai Chengu via jane, Saturday, Feb 2 2019, 10:16pm
American economic sanctions have been the leading crime against humanity since World War Two. America’s economic sanctions have killed more innocent people than all of the nuclear, biological and chemical weapons ever used in the history of mankind.

Washington Neocons are Subverting U.S. Dollar Hegemony
Michael Hudson via gayle, Saturday, Feb 2 2019, 9:14pm
The extreme right and extreme left of politics shake hands together in totalitarian autocracy. This (ideological impositionist) outcome led to the economic collapse of the USSR and is now leading to the collapse of the USA via the only factor holding up America's capability -- the petro-dollar as reserve world currency. It is not without ample irony that extreme right wing factions in Washington (neocons) have not only taken over Trump's foreign policy but are, in their Blind, desperate attempts to preserve America's former status, actually shooting themselves in the head. Leading macro economist Prof. Michael Hudson spells out this rapid (internal) decline and the forces driving it below:
[For any individual, nation/state or otherwise, to allow itself to depend on only one survival factor becomes the ultimate in stupidity and folly, but this is the situation for tattered and fragile US power. And so, targeting the dollar, intentionally or unintentionally, from within or without, brings down the entire house of cards. The paper dollar is therefore the Achilles heel of American imperialism, and we all know what happened to Achilles!] (story and 1 image)

Profit -- Naturalised Exploitation
lynx, Friday, Feb 1 2019, 7:23pm
The difference between the cost of production and the revenue gained from selling the produced item is profit; sounds ‘natural’ enough as presented by economists and capitalists, BUT if fair wages are paid to workers and consumers are not overcharged for produced items then profit would not exist, hence profit must be EXPLOITATION -- its real meaning.

US Superpower Roundly DEFEATED by Rag-Tag Taliban Fighters in Afghanistan
Finian Cunningham via gus, Thursday, Jan 31 2019, 9:06pm
The title is the truth, not that American defeat would be portrayed that way in the lying American mass media. Indeed, determined nationals would always defeat a foreign invader as has happened throughout history but who learns? No-one it would seem so America is pulling out of its longest LOST war, though the writing was on the wall from the start, talk about thick and the PROFITS of contractors and arms manufacturers. And therein lies the tale of defeat. Afghans were/are fighting for their FREEDOM, a real cause, Americans were fighting for corporate profits -- the least passionate reason to fight. And so it was INEVITABLE, though America is attempting to save face as I write, but the truth as always stands immutable, D-E-F-E-A-T!

Future World
Chris Hedges via pru, Wednesday, Jan 30 2019, 7:18pm
The massive social failures we witness today are the direct result of OUR collective failures. First, the failure to rein in the criminals that set the course for permanent illegal wars beginning with Yugoslavia/Iraq; then the failure to prosecute and jail those responsible for the 2008 global economic collapse from which we are yet to recover -- temporary life support equates with QE, a (temporary) measure which has become permanent, though it must inevitably collapse, as the global economy CANNOT be sustained on paper money printed from 'air' not based on production. Russian FM Lavrov Warns US about Intervention in Venezuela
lex, Tuesday, Jan 29 2019, 6:42pm
Reuters released a tiny piece on Russian FM Lavrov stating that economic sanctions on Venezuela are illegal, doh! But has that stopped the US in the past? Lavrov also stated that America was attempting to "confiscate Venezuelan state assets" [OIL] and that Venezuela has Russia’s full support, see link below. (story and 2 images)

Pompeo to UN, “pick a side!”
jaxie, Saturday, Jan 26 2019, 7:30pm
There is only one criminal nation responsible for all the wars and mayhem of the 21st century and no-one need guess, THE USA! And yet Pompeo at a meeting of the UN security council accused the elected leader of Venezuela of creating “mayhem!” Then it was dubya Bush redux, Pompeo asked UN members to ‘pick a side,’ you're either ‘with us or with the terrorists’ or today, the new Washington backed puppet or the democratically elected Maduro. Surely by now you would think the US could do a bit better, but no, the old absurd scripts continue to plague the nation, though they carry no real impact anymore, only corruption money serves the US these days. Energy is Power, Literally
jess, Saturday, Jan 26 2019, 5:49pm
The gambit is afoot, and it’s not the usual illegal oil appropriation THEFT (Iraq, Libya) for corporate profits, it’s far broader. Venezuela has huge oil reserves, enough to affect global markets if fully exploited which in turn affects those nations which rely heavily on oil and gas exports to sustain their local economies, Russia and China for instance. The former due to its narrow based energy supply economy, the latter for reasons of continued international development projects.

Venezuela and the REALITY of American Imperialism
rod, Friday, Jan 25 2019, 8:06pm
The outworn feeble justification the USA utilises to illegally pursue ‘regime change’ (an international crime in itself) around the globe is tattered to ribbons today, the LIE of spreading ‘liberty, democracy and freedom’ -- what a farce/laugh. Now note that when the US-sponsored Arab spring uprising strategy failed to install compliant Washington puppet governments, in Egypt particularly, America quickly subverted the new democratic process and deposed democratically elected leaders in favour of servile to Washington puppet leaders. Second US Orchestrated Brazen Coup Attempt in Venezuela
Finian Cunningham via sal, Thursday, Jan 24 2019, 6:33pm
The dramatic events unfolding in Venezuela have “US-orchestrated coup d’état” written all over them. Washington is also giving itself license for military intervention which could spark a proxy war involving Russia and other powerful nations.

Algorithmic 'Collateral Damage' Acceptable to Police, Agencies and Military
lex, Sunday, Jan 20 2019, 9:32pm
Algorithms are simply unthinking computer programs that re-act to the results their initial searches produce, they react to themselves according to programming, a highly problematic process as algorithms REMAIN insentient, unable to THINK intuitively or ASSESS abstractly, which characteristics have earned humans dominance over other species and to a large extent their environments, whereas algorithms are purely self-re-actionary. Therefore, they are prone to fault as they are programmed by faulty human minds not able to assess future outcomes until they happen and as the faults grow (exponentially) and lead to faulty conclusions, due to self-reliance, the more inaccurate and faulty they become; they cannot say wait or slow down, I need to look/think about that result in order to avoid a larger fault as I go, they continue to MINDLESSLY react at light speed until they inevitably fail.

They Spy with Their 5 Little Eyes -- the Entire Apparatus Serves Elites NOT States
Suzie Dawson via jaxie, Saturday, Jan 19 2019, 8:21pm
People are sold the notion that spying is about national security, like James Bond against the villains, however, in REALITY that is myth and popular fiction; spying is about serving elite enterprises and ensuring a competitive edge and increased PROFITS for elite interests, the people and nations are of hardly any consequence as these interests are Global in scope, they care little for States/nations and people. It is already known fact that the USA spies on its allies, the Merkel personal phone scandal made headlines internationally, but what was Merkel's very revealing reaction? She took it as a given, NOT as an affront, simply an overlord watching over its subjects.
