Understanding Rogue Cultures

In my early university years, when a humanities degree had worth, I undertook a few units in cultural analysis incorporated in two related majors, sociology and media/textual studies. It proved a wonderful choice as no culture falls out of the sky, everything can be known about any existing and historical culture by studying and analysing the cultural artefacts it produces and in this respect young cultures like the American, are comic book simple. I should add that this discipline is easily able to determine the future behaviours of any culture.

Today average civilised people are shocked by America’s mass murdering, invasive behaviour and outright flouting of international law and civilised conventions. However, if comic book American culture is analysed, though many claim America has no real ‘culture’ as its primitive, rustic behaviour would indicate, today’s America is easily read and anticipated, giving other much older cultures a huge advantage over the humanities deficient USA.

Indeed, a trained cultural analyst has very little trouble painting accurate and predictive pictures of a culture's character and future behaviour, as all cultures are an open book to specialists.

For instance, compare the American need for military bases around the globe, as no other nation today pursues this behaviour; the total number of military bases approximates 800 or so today, so we must ask what is the (traceable) source of this cultural habit/pursuit and whom or what does it serve? As quite clearly 19th century America was, as is recorded, replete with military bases within a not fully conquered America at the time.

Now, I kid you not regarding a modern cultural artefact, the movie “Fort Apache,” starring John Wayne, the quintessential American cowboy. A brief and accurate analysis indicates that Fort Apache was a military outpost established to fight and conquer the perceived ‘enemy,’ native Americans, who were in the way of ‘progess’ as the white invaders saw it; there were ‘resources’ and arable lands to be exploited but native Americans, the traditional owners, were in the way so they had to be removed and/or subjected one way or another, and the usual method was outright genocide of people unable to effectively resist the advances of a foreign culture, as history clearly records.

Now compare with American behaviour today in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Serbia, Asia/Japan/S. Korea etc., AND Europe where American bases are situated; this behaviour indicates today what it did in the past, that the people where these bases are situated are actually enemies of America, whether outright (direct opposition) or perceived is of no consequence, enemies they are, as perceived by America -- military bases are clearly not required in friendly nations, but of course America has no real friends, it exploits and enslaves every nation that cannot resist its brutish and corrupting power.

The pattern in the cultural artefact, “Fort Apache” is replicated today without variation, as cultures follow established patterns that seem to be effective, hence the prevailing militarism of America today, which by need, has extended its ‘territory’ around the globe, and as white America disregarded the native Americans it disregards the people of any land that America wishes to exploit, and should they oppose or resist, the ‘cavalry' is sent in to deal violently with the ‘problem’.

There is nothing new under the cultural sun and America has not changed its behaviour pattern since it was founded as a commercial, mercantile, independent nation, which is primarily concerned with profit.

Requirements that satisfy the addictive need of profit are to be ‘appropriated’ by any means, legal or illegal, from any and all places and people unable to resist. That was and is American reality today if we reduce the analysis to its core patterns, the rest is propaganda and lies to obfuscate or camouflage America’s real criminal, rogue behaviour.

Please note dear readers that cultural artefacts are not only shards of pottery and the like, they are everything that culture produces, which of course reveals its inherent character; as previously stated, America and its future course/behaviour are as easy to read as a comic book if one is familiar with sophisticated, post-modern methods of analysis though I have intentionally simplified the analysis here in order to reach average people.

In a war context the cultures that are able to predict and assess another culture’s behaviour/responses to any situation clearly have the advantage, while America continues to undervalue its humanities departments in its tertiary institutions, much to its disadvantage and great cost, as will soon be evident to ALL, as of course America, true to form, and as always, is pursuing war with its perceived opposition as I write.
